Local Flavours Holiday Market 2022

Our popular Local Flavours Holiday Market returns for three days of food, drink, music, holiday cheer, and great gift ideas in early December!

Wonderful holiday finds, local and ecological!

WHEN Sunday, Dec 4, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10-11, from 11am – 2pm all three days!

WHERE 2391 Pepin Ct (in Blackburn Hamlet), at Just Food Community Farm in the Big Red Barn.

Our local artisans have produced a selection of holiday gifts, including crafts, baked goods, ferments, and preserves, as well as fresh food including hot food and drink.

Hosted by farmers of Just Food Community Farm, featuring local ecological products, creative food items, and holiday gifts – honey, bee products, ferments, gourmet condiments, lamb products, baked goods, ready-to-go food, jam and jelly, eco-stuffer items, crafts, hot apple cider, raffle draw and more!

Bring your mugs to fill with warm local apple cider, or fair trade hot chocolate or coffee! HOT FOOD will be available for purchase (e.g. soup, samosa, muffins, etc.). Wrap yourself around a warm doner kebab stuffed with seasoned rice and lamb.

Along with holiday doodads and appurtenances from local craft vendors, our farmers offer fascinating ferments (kimchi!), lamb indulgences, jiggling jams and jellies, honeybee sweets, magical mushrooms, and much, much more!

Great under the tree and shared on the table for your holiday feasts!

Come for the vegetables, colourful greens, local honey,  preserves, hot sauces and more.  Stock up for winter!  Don’t forget the mushrooms are coming!  Drop by the Farm Stand. It’s right near the Big Red Barn!

September 14th – Garlic Celebration Day

So much garlic, so little time! Please come and visit us any Sunday from 9am to 2pm at 2389 Pepin Court, but make sure you stop by on September 14th to sample some delicious garlic treats. Learn all about the garlic growing right here in Ottawa, taste it, buy it, and have some fun with the proud farmers at the Just Food farm.

Check to see if the garlic eating contest slash kissing booth will become a reality or not! Hahaha! Hhhhhhello, do you like garlic as much as I do?

First Farm Stand of 2014

Thanks to all the folks who came out to support us today at the road side stand at 2389 Pepin Court.  Personally I picked up a beautiful year old white mulberry tree, and some gorgeous broccoli and beets.  I can’t wait until next sale day to see what all the participating farms will have on offer!

Also, something to look forward to towards the end of August or first part of September, are some special theme days, a mini-garlic festival, and an heirloom tomato tasting day.  Can’t wait!

Easing into July

As it has been another late start this year, we will be easing into the roadside sales… after talking to many of the farmers, it looks like most will start selling produce on July 27th (delayed from the original projected date of July 6th).

Prior to that, there may be limited sales of such items as garlic scapes and greens.  Keep an eye out for us at 2389 Pepin Court.

League of Extraordinary Farmers

The starter plants are growing and all of us farming at the Just Food Farm at 2389 Pepin Court in Ottawa, Ontario are preparing for a tremendous growing year.  We are part of the Just Food startup farms initiative, and though we represent separate and unique farm teams, we come together at the roadside to sell our organic products.

From July 6th to whenever the weather forces us to stop, you can find our ‘league of extraordinary farmers’ on the roadside at 2389 Pepin Court, Ottawa, ON Sundays 9am-2pm for our second season of selling fantastic, fresh local produce.

Revisit this justfoodfarmstand site for stories and updates on the products being offered at the Farm Stand each week.
